The Journey Towards My 1st Marathon

NBA Free Agency

The 2010 NBA offseason starts when the clock hits midnight tonight. Yes, I know there was a draft already but none of those players will have an immediate impact on their franchise as much as the 2010 free agent class will. Arguably the best class in any sport of all time. Many franchises have been dumping salaries for the past 2 years salivating over what could make a Championship caliber team in one offseason.

Leading this years class is a trio of 2003 1st round draft picks, Lebron James (2-Time MVP), Dwayne Wade (1 NBA Title) & Chris Bosh (Dominate Forward). The other top free agents include; Dirk Nowitzki, Carlos Boozer, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen, David Lee & Amar’e Stoudemire. Some big name free agents who are going to fly under the radar a little bit; Shaquille O’Neil, Rudy Gay, Allen Iverson & Tracy McGrady.

So now to my predictions on where players should go and why. There has been some speculation that James, Wade & Bosh could end up on the same team (Miami). Personally I don’t see this happening, each player most likely would not make as much in endorsements and also they would share the stardom which none of them have ever done in their lives.

Lebron James: Chicago Bulls – Yes he does get more guaranteed money if he re-signs with Cleveland but their roster is going to be the same as last year and that is not a Championship team. The bulls have a good nucleus and with the trade on draft day they cleaned up even more space for another great free agent.

Dwayne WadeMiami Heat Since I don’t see James going to Miami I thiWade will decide to stay in Miami where he’s won a Title already.

Chris Bosh: Miami Heat – He’ll go to a contender teaming up with Wade. This is a great tandem that’ll bring a contender back to Miami.

Dirk Nowitzki: Dallas Mavericks – He’s staying for sure. Though Dallas didn’t land Lebron they will be happy with their main

Amar’e Stoudemire: New York Knicks Re-United with Mike D’Antoni. This will be a comfortable atmosphere for him.

Joe Johnson: New York Knicks – Add Joe Johnson to the mix and the Knicks will be talked about as an Eastern Conference contender again.

Carlos Boozer: New Jersey Nets – Nets will miss on all the big time free agents and go for Boozer. This is an all money move for Boozer but he should help a team that only won 12 games last year.

Ray Allen: Celtics – He’ll stay in Boston even for less money. He’s comfortable and still has a chance at winning Championships there.

David Lee: New Jersey Nets Teamed with Boozer and Devin Harris the Nets will be on a good track for getting back to winning games.

Shaq: FA – Unless he takes a big pay cut a don’t see anyone wanting him. He’s old, can’t play D and is very injury prone. I could see a team picking him up mid-season.

Rudy Gay: Chicago Bulls Rose, Noah, Gay & Lebron. This team might be a little undersized but could dominate off heart and athleticism!

A.I.:  FA – He will struggle to find a team that’ll take his injuries and probably his attitude since he won’t be starting.

T-Mac: Dallas Mavericks I think Cuban wants to make a splash and T-Mac would be a great pick-up coming off the bench and playing 20-25 min a game.

Alright so there is my predictions. I know there will be some crazy things that’ll happen starting in only a few hours. I may have not got some big named free agents or I could be way off on what I’m predicting so don’t heckle me too much! I’d like some comments for this. Let’s get a big discussion going…
